A whisper travels on the breeze, a tale spun from honeyed lies and bitter truths. It speaks of a current, its waters glinting with the temptation of intoxication. But within its depths lurks a venom, a deceptive lure that promises glory at the cost of innocence. They say those who stumble in its current are forever ensnared by the stream's power, their lives forever corrupted into a tragic melody.
When the Tanks Burst
On January 15th, 1919, Boston was struck by a disaster unlike any other. A massive tank filled with molasses burst open in the city's North End, unleashing a wave of sticky sweetness that crashed through the streets like a tsunami. The flood, standing at least 25 feet in some areas, was devastating. Buildings were flattened under the power of the treacherous goo.
The aftermath was tragic. Twenty-one people lost their lives, and many more suffered injuries. The flood also caused extensive damage to property, leaving a trail of sweet devastation in its wake.
